In-Depth Focus for Occupational Therapists & Professionals

As an OT, you play a pivotal role in ensuring that home adaptations truly support your client's long-term independence, safety, and well-being. This event is specifically tailored to enhance your expertise in a crucial area of adaptation: Accessible Kitchen Design.

During the sessions, our award-winning designer will focus on practical, client-centred principles, including:

  • Optimising Layout & Flow: Understanding the critical dimensions and clearance space required for efficient, safe movement, particularly for wheelchair users (e.g., the 1500mm turning circle).

  • Ergonomics and Future-Proofing: Exploring innovative solutions such as rise and fall worktops and wall units, which are essential for multi-user households or managing progressive conditions.

  • Detailing Fixtures & Appliances: Deep dives into the specifications that matter—from shallow, insulated sinks with knee space and lever taps to the safety benefits of induction hobs and side-opening/slide-and-hide ovens.

  • Sensory and Cognitive Considerations: The vital role of visual contrast in flooring and work surfaces, appropriate task lighting, and the integration of technology for simplified use.

This is a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between clinical assessment and cutting-edge design, ensuring your specifications lead to truly life-changing outcomes for your clients.
