Thomas Vaughan Ltd Achieves Disability Confident Leader Status
We are proud to announce that Thomas Vaughan Ltd has achieved Disability Confident Leader – Level 3, the highest level of the UK Government's Disability Confident scheme.
For us, this is more than an accreditation. It reflects an important part of who we are as a business and our commitment to creating an inclusive workplace where people are recognised for their abilities, skills and contribution.

What is Disability Confident?
Disability Confident is a UK Government scheme designed to encourage employers to think differently about disability and take positive action in the way they recruit, retain and develop disabled people.
The scheme has three levels: Disability Confident Committed, Disability Confident Employer and, at the highest level, Disability Confident Leader.
Achieving Level 3 requires an organisation to go beyond making a commitment. Our approach and evidence have been independently validated, and as a Disability Confident Leader we have a responsibility to continue developing our own practices while encouraging greater disability confidence within the wider business community.

Becoming a Disability Confident Leader demonstrates our commitment to recognising the skills and talents disabled people bring to the workplace, removing unnecessary barriers and continuing to develop a culture in which people have the opportunity to contribute and succeed.
More than accessible design
Our work within accessible home design has brought us into contact with Occupational Therapists, case managers, healthcare professionals and, most importantly, individuals and families whose everyday experiences demonstrate just how much difference thoughtful, inclusive design can make.
But accessibility and inclusion shouldn't begin and end with the spaces we create for our clients.
They should be reflected in the way we operate as a business too.
Achieving Disability Confident Leader status is therefore an important milestone for the Thomas Vaughan team – and one that complements our continued work to raise awareness of inclusive and accessible design.

Continuing the journey
Reaching Level 3 doesn't mean the work is finished.
Being a Disability Confident Leader is about continuing to learn, improve and lead by example. We will continue looking at how we recruit, support and develop people within Thomas Vaughan while also using our position to encourage positive conversations around disability and inclusion within our wider professional and business community.
We're extremely proud to have reached this level and look forward to building on it.
